Improving patient access is something we hear about on a daily basis. It is constantly being discussed at all levels – from national and local politics to practice team meetings.
Recently, the British Dental Association said that the ‘huge fall’ in people on low incomes going to the dentist in England was due to the fact that they feared being wrongly fined when they claim for free treatment – with the most recent annual figures show almost 370,000 fines for people accused of ‘misclaiming’ for free dental care.
The BDA suggests many were due to innocent confusions over paperwork and that many are overturned when challenged.
