Patron of the Society of British Dental Nurses, Fiona Ellwood.
The ADI Team Congress 2017 has been designed to cater for the needs of all members of the dental team. Everyone has a part to play in the delivery of high quality implant therapy and care, so it's important that all receive appropriate training and education in the field. To this end, the ADI Team Congress 2017 will offer programmes tailored to each professional, providing relevant sessions for all roles and experience levels.
The dental nurse's role in a modern dental practice is pivotal for the success of the business. Their expanding scope of practice and broadening responsibilities mean that they are much more heavily involved in clinical practice than ever before. With regards to patient care, they have always been and remain the central point of contact; patients often feel more at ease talking to a dental nurse than a dentist and so the nurse's communication skills are essential in the surgery. Within the field of dental implantology the nurse's role remains critical. From a patient's perspective, they are often nervous and apprehensive about the treatment ahead and the nurse can spend time with them discussing any concerns, as well as sharing any information the patient requires about the treatment itself. From the dental team's perspective, the dental nurse's expertise in the preparation and assistance during the various procedures carried out through the implantology process can help to ensure a successful clinical outcome and a satisfied patient.
