Minimising the risk of cross-infection is a key aim of every dental surgery in order to maximise the quality of patient care, protect patients and protect dental staff. It’s also a legal requirement as part of the HTM 01-05 regulations. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is part of Standard Precautions for infection prevention and control. Together, with other measures such as good ventilation, correct handling of waste, immunisation and correct working practices, PPE can help to minimise the possibility of exposure to infections.

Introduction to dental PPE
