In a recent survey conducted by the Society of British Dental Nurses, 99% of respondents were unhappy at paying the same amount for annual retention as other dental care professionals (DCPs).
At face value, it seems somewhat unfair – but the reasons for the annual retention fee (ARF) remaining the same for all DCPs are manifold and there is no easy explanation. However, there are some simple explanations and comparisons that can be made.
The first area to explore is the actual cost of regulating individuals. This cost remains the same for all registrants, insomuch as that it costs the same to process the paperwork whether it is an orthodontic therapist or a dental nurse, for example.
