Emma qualified in 1987 as a DSA and holds a number of post qualifications. She currently works as the healthcare director for RIS Products, is the current patron of The Society of British Dental Nurses (SBDN) and is an ambassador for the Mouth Cancer Foundation. Emma is also the membership secretary and one of the founders of the society.

More recently, Emma and her team have been pivotal in the development of the pocket guides for oral care and these have been adopted internationally and are being translated.

Emma has presented both nationally and internationally for the SBDN and contributed to many articles about oral care. Emma was the first MacMillan oral care practitioner and was vital in the dental nurse-led clinics in the head, neck and cancer unit and the first dental care professional to become part of the UKomic Board. Emma has extensive experience within the field of gerontology, particularly in care and residential homes and in hospital settings.
