…head dental nurse and cross-infection lead, Jenny Jones

Jenny Jones, 28, has been a dental nurse for seven years, having qualified in 2012. Since then, she has achieved post-qualifications in conscious sedation and dental radiography. She is currently lead radiographer and head dental nurse at the ICE Postgraduate Dental Institute & Hospital in Manchester, responsible for the safety requirements associated with radiation. Jenny is trained in venepuncture, cannulation and impression taking and is the infection control lead. She has been involved with the training of many surgeons and dental nurses working with implants, and helped to develop their knowledge and skills.

As the head dental nurse at ICE, Jenny’s responsibilities include supervising the dental nursing team, CQC audits and running clinics. According to colleagues, her friendly and outgoing personality makes patients feel at ease. As the cross-infection lead for the hospital, she ensures that all dental nurses comply with all the practice procedures and policies that are in place, as outlined in HTM 01-05.
