Thinking of becoming a dental nurse? Make the right choice

1 min read GDC
The changing landscape of dental nursing is often discussed, but how many individuals think about their choice of primary qualification? This article provides an overview of the different dental nurse qualifications, and key considerations to take into account when making this decision

Since 2008, it is mandatory that those wishing to pursue a career in dental nursing must, in accordance with the General Dental Council (GDC), undertake a recognised primary qualification and then be accepted onto the GDC register. This might seem a straightforward decision, but there is a need to really investigate the award you are about to embark upon.

This qualification will be your primary qualification, the beginning of your career, so think carefully and research your course. Think about your aspirations for the future, not just the here and now. Consider your career progression plans? Making the wrong choice at this point could have implications for the rest of your career.
