The power of Smiles Together

4 mins read Professionalism/career development
We hear from Heidi Wyatt, as part of a series of articles from the ADG looking at the use of skills mix

The role of a dental nurse hasn’t changed a lot over the years. Our role is assisting with clinical procedures while making independent judgements about equipment, materials and instruments along the way.

Ultimately, we are there to provide clinical support to practitioners within the surgery setting, as well as provide the appropriate pre- and post-treatment advice and reassurance to patients undergoing procedures. But most of all, our job is to make patients feel at ease and to make their visit go as smoothly as possible.

Unique

That’s not to say, of course, that all dental nurses are exactly the same – every individual is unique in what they can bring to the table. This is certainly the case within our team and, it is because of this, that skills mix can be implemented so effectively.
