The happy trainee

Hayley O’Neill gives an update on what’s changed for her business in the last 18 months

When I wrote my first article about my Happy Trainee pack in July 2020, it was very early days. I’d sold it to quite a few practices and was proud of what I’d done but was also busy with a six-month-old baby and was stretched for time. I’ve come such a long way since then, and now provide more resources and have a website with a shop! My original resource has certainly still been the most popular though; I really feel like practices have been struggling with their trainees and this takes away much of the strain.

To explain where the idea came from for the Happy Trainee pack, I’ve always felt that there is a big issue with the first few months in practice for trainee dental nurses. Unfortunately, there isn’t any structure to that initial period as college is usually months away, so they have to start blind with no knowledge whatsoever.
