Implant dentistry has become the most widely offered specialist treatment in dental practices throughout the UK. It should come as no surprise that dental nurses want – and require – specialist training in order to deliver the care and support needed to assist implant patients, both in the surgical and restorative phases of treatment.
The British Dental Nurses and Assistants Examining Board was founded in 1943 to create educationally balanced written and oral examinations that could be regulated and replicated across the UK. Fast forward 72 years, and the National Examination Board for Dental Nurses as we know it now has developed its first post-registration qualification in seven years – the Certificate in Dental Implant Nursing. This course aims to provide dental nurses with the educational experience – including the knowledge, critical understanding, intellectual skills, practical skills and personal attitude – to enable them to provide effective and safe care for dental patients.
