Writing up patient notes is often deemed one of the most helpful things for a dentist. What’s your perspective on the importance of excellent records?
Absolutely. Patient notes are so important, and extend beyond diagnoses and treatments. They encapsulate the context, including patients’ choices, discussions on risks, and their expectations. Navigating the challenge of capturing detailed information amidst fast-paced conversations, it is vital to transition from post-appointment record keeping to contemporaneous note-taking. My approach not only benefits dentists by saving time but also enhances the overall patient experience. I try to provide valuable tips, including the use of abbreviations and audio recordings, making record keeping a seamless and authentic part of the dental care process.
