Ambitious dental nurses are becoming increasingly aware that extending their role in patient care involves considerably more than simply building their competence and confidence for performing clinical skills. Over the next couple of years every member of the dental team will have a responsibility to continually develop their skills in all of the following four quadrants of dental education:
Management and leadership
Professionalism
Communication
Clinical.
Considerations associated with strengthening the development of standards within four quadrants of dental education in the continuing dental education sector, will influence the GDC's thinking about: ‘Shifting the Balance Consultation’ findings Their ‘Upstream Thinking Approach’ to regulation and fitness to practise Enhanced CPD requirements-due to be introduced for dental nurses in July 2018 Revalidation processes (eventually).
