Do you have the appropriate level of indemnity for your role? And have you checked it is up to date and that the premiums or subscriptions have been paid?...

Many people regard insurance as a distress purchase made out of necessity rather than for pleasure. In many professions, indemnity is a regulatory rather than a legal requirement. However, the Dentists Act (Amendment) Order 2005 introduced compulsory medical indemnity cover as a legal requirement as well as a regulatory one.

The key reason for having indemnity and legal expenses insurance is to cover the costs to defend yourself and to pay any damages awarded to a patient if they successfully sue you. It will also cover the cost of defending you at GDC regulatory hearings for activities in connections with your role as a dental nurse.
