I started dental nursing in 2011 and completed my national diploma in 2013. I worked in a private practice for six years, mainly consisting of crowns, veneers and implant treatment. My main role was ensuring patients' oral health was maintained during the extensive procedures, alongside my normal dental nurse duties. I wanted to progress my oral health knowledge further and this led to the completion of my Fdsc in advanced dental nursing in May 2016. Since June 2016, I have been working in the community dental services. I work alongside a range of clinicians and see a vast range of patients – from special care to children with complex medical histories in different environments, including in the dental practice, the patients' homes, specialist hospitals and care homes. Since working in the community setting, this has enabled me to take more of a central role in oral health by tailoring patient needs to suit their circumstances.
