It has often occurred to me, when visiting dental practices, that their teams fail to make a better effort in selling their consumables and oral health products. Often, I see half-hearted, shabby displays, with empty shelves – often very dusty. When I ask at reception how are the consumables sales going, I often get an unenthusiastic answer and yes, wait for it, the now inevitable: ‘We cannot compete with Tesco and Asda.’ Let's be honest, who can? But, if that is the philosophy of the practice, then we might as well pack in now and not get out of bed. However, you could be sitting on a potential goldmine.
