Michael Bentley weighs up the cost and benefits of infection control in a changing dental environment

I have worked in dentistry for 22 years, first as a practice manager, then as a dental nurse, followed by a stint as a dental business coach, after which I returned to practice management. My most recent ‘hat’ is by far the most challenging to wear. What a testing time 2020 has been for our industry with the arrival of COVID-19! However experienced I thought I was, nothing could have prepared me for the for the challenges presented by this pandemic.

The adage that ‘it’s not the fittest that survive, but those most willing to change’ could not be more pertinent in the current climate. The willingness and professionalism of my colleagues, team and the wider dental industry to adapt and understand how to mitigate risks to get back to providing frontline care has been second to none.
