Sitting your OSCE exam can be very overwhelming and scary; it is an unfamiliar situation and having someone watch your every move can put a lot of pressure on you. I definitely felt more nervous about the OSCE exam than my written exam, despite the fact I am used to mixing alginate and setting up for treatments every day – but no one would ask me about the mandible structure daily! Here are my tips to help your OSCE exam go as smoothly as possible.

My first tip would be to ensure you eat beforehand, as this will help your brain function. I know nerves can get the better of you and you can lose your appetite, but even something small is better than nothing. Following on from this, keep hydrated too! You do quite a bit of talking during your OSCE exam and you don’t want to have a dry mouth. This will also aid your concentration.
