I have been working with social media and marketing for the past eight years and started out with social media a long time before working with practices on theirs. I was always interested in photography and art. I did graphic design when I was at school and always loved photography, painting and doodling. I started working with a well-known health company online who promised I could earn lots of money alongside my full-time job. It sounded perfect and something I could do online and was interesting to me. The company taught me bits and pieces and dos and don’ts, with the aim to get people to buy the product, but I was working full time and didn’t have the energy to put the time into it. I did however start to learn more about social media and how it was growing for the dental profession. As a dental nurse, I was always the one in the practice who took the photos and advised what would make a good post and so on. Eventually, I took the reins for social media marketing for the practice and worked with them on their websites and their marketing. I loved doing this and could see it as a way out of dental nursing eventually.
