In a survey undertaken earlier this year by Anxiety UK, only 37 per cent of over 900 people surveyed said they were looking forward returning to normal life. Thirty-six per cent stated they were quite happy to stay at home and 27 per cent had no strong feeling either way. Of those who were feeling anxious about the lifting of restrictions, 46 per cent said the pressures of socialising generally was their biggest concern, 30 per cent were anxious about going to a busy shopping centre and 23 per cent about using public transport.
There is no specific research into the UK public’s willingness to return to the dentist; anecdotally many practices are enjoying something of a boom but having spent more than a year communicating with and reassuring patients about the safety of practices, it seems sensible to keep talking to them.
