The GDC aims to be open, fair, transparent and accountable to all dental care professional registrants, to patients and to the wider public.
The GDC does not work in isolation and, along with other healthcare regulators, is coming under increasing pressure to improve the way they regulate in the public interest. In February 2011, the Government published a paper, Enabling Excellence, which set out some changes it wished regulators to consider.
