Self-improvement as a team

7 mins read Mentoring, reflection and PDPs
Critical reflection for mutual support has never been so important, suggests Rebecca Silver

Engaging in regular critical reflection and identifying strengths to build on can help to promote a self-improving culture of learning. This can increase our ability to adapt to change in an unpredictable world.

Reflection is important, not just when completing ECPD, but also on a day-to-day basis with colleagues. By practising reflection, teams better assimilate learnings and approach work with an improved state of awareness and confidence. Learning facilitates your working life and the ability to reflect effectively and correctly can contribute to this process.

Every member of the team has something to offer. Every one of us has an opinion and sometimes being able to think back and discuss situations where a different point of view is offered may facilitate better learning. Patient care is paramount and reflecting on what went well and what areas require improvement or change can raise the bar on the care we offer.
