Save the trees – and still comply with the CQC!

Dental nurse and compliance lead, Aleksandra MIteva, reveals how to pass a CQC inspection with flying colours – and remain environmetally friendly

I qualified as a dental nurse nearly four years ago. Before that, I worked with Denplan with their quality and training team for nearly two years, so I have been part of the preparation for a Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection for some time.

Our practice – Rosebank Dental Practice in Chorleywood, Hertfordshire – just had its CQC inspection and we passed with flying colours. It was an amazing experience. The inspectors were very helpful and were impressed by our organisational skills.

I am the compliance lead and have tried to implement a system that reduces the amount of paper used. Let’s face it, there is a lot of wastage involved in our day-to day activities – and in preparation with the CQC compliance, generally. We have a checklist for almost everything and I wanted to implement a more convenient way to record all the data and store our policies and procedures.
