How do we ensure effective and positive communication with patients in a COVID-19 world? Amber Ojak considers the way forward

COVID-19 has shaken up the dental world since lockdown began in March and much of the dental profession’s concerns are centred on how it will change in the coming months. Whilst we remain unsure what lies ahead in terms of treating patients as a profession, it is as important to remember that our patients will be just as anxious about what dentistry will look like after this unsettling period of time. There is a lot of speculation about the procedures that may or may not be put into place and it is easy to forget how this may impact on the confidence of our patients. As dental professionals, we know that our cleanliness and decontamination standards are some of the highest and this will aid in helping us restore the faith of our patients.
