
Head and neck cancer (HANC) is the seventh most common cancer in the world, affecting approximately 800,000 people annually worldwide. There has been a proven increased incidence of HANC with socio-economic deprivation, age and the male population. The incidence of HANC is decreasing in Europe and North America, but increasing in developing countries. HANC includes cancers of the mouth, throat, voice box, salivary glands as well as the nose and sinuses.
