Sophie Jackson may be only 23 but has already built up an impressive career history. Having begun dental nursing aged 16, she qualified with a BDA Oral Health Education qualification in 2016 and the NEBDN Orthodontic Nursing in 2019. She undertook an apprenticeship at John Worsley Dental Practice in Barrow in Furness and then secured a full-time dental nursing position in Windermere in September 2014.
She says: ‘During this time, I made good friends with my colleagues who I am still in contact with today and my role was to work with the principle dentist Mr Morgan providing general dental treatments. One of my additional duties included creating a Facebook page for the practice and update regularly. In this time, I created oral health posters to display in the waiting room to educate patients about the food and drink they were consuming. I created an Easter colouring competition for local schools to educate them on sweet treats and snacking.'
