Xyanthe Lambert, senior dental nurse, on why fundraising in the community adds value to your role

Earlier in the summer, senior dental nurse Xyanthe Lambert, 50, organised a community fundraising day in aid of a charity local to where she practices at the Bupa Platinum practice, Museum Square Dental Centre, situated in the Fenland market town of Wisbech. She raised an impressive £4,000 for a palliative care unit, the Alan Hudson Day Treatment Centre.Xyanthe, who is also radiographer and oral health educator, was delighted when she saw an idea turn into reality. Her plan was to organise a big community fundraiser event and get everyone involved – and succeed she did. With many of her colleagues from Museum Square and friends – ‘and the luck of amazing weather on the day’, she smiles – it was a very well attended event. ‘I couldn’t have wished for a better day and there was a tremendous community feel to the day, which is what I wanted to achieve.’
