Painting a new perspective

Clementine Rees Brown talks to Jenna Davies about using art to combat the stress of dentistry.

A dental practice can be a stressful place to be can’t it?

Yes definitely, I think a lot of older patients actually struggle with anxiety, my parent’s generation remembers what dentistry used to be like and a visit can still fill them with dread! But I enjoy treating patients who are nervous or anxious about seeing the dentist, as I am able to help them get into a healthy headspace where they feel prepared and comfortable, not terrified. I find it rewarding to help patients relax, particularly when it results in them having the confidence to keep coming back and having more of a relationship with us and their own oral health.
