What are the recent developments in water fluoridation?

After years of no progress, there are now some real prospects of developments. The publication of the Green Paper on prevention in July 2019 gave a real boost to local councils looking at this as an option and the people who had been working away to get it on the agenda. The commitment made in that paper was reinforced by Lord Bethell in the House of Lords on 10 November. I had been nervous that the direction of travel for the whole of healthcare indicated in the Green Paper might get lost due to the current pressures, but I was really pleased to hear those comments in the Lords. Prior to COVID-19, there were several areas looking at initiating progress towards consultation and there is a strong possibility that some of these will start to progress in 2020.
