In my previous article about the British Association of Dental Nurses (BADN), I discussed two of the executive committee roles – the president and the chair. In this article I will discuss the remaining two roles – the education representative and the treasurer – and introduce you to the BADN’s new president-elect. I discussed the role of president-elect in the January issue of Dental Nursing.
For those of you who missed the previous article, the BADN’s strategic direction and decision-making, together with the responsibility for the financial integrity of the association, is handled by the executive committee.
There are four key roles within the executive committee, these being: president, chair, education representative and treasurer. These roles are held for a two-year period, apart from the president’s term of office. This is a four-year commitment to the association, with year one marked as president-elect, years two and three marked as president and then year four marked as immediate past president. Any BADN full member can apply to hold any one of these four positions when they become available; however, it is recommended to have had some experience on the executive committee or the panel of representatives before being nominated for BADN president.
