According to research undertaken on behalf of Resolution Foundation and the Centre of Economic Performance at the London School of Economics (LSE), 74 per cent of UK mothers to children aged three or under were employed in 2021 – an upsurge of six per cent since 2019.

Given the fact that working mothers currently make up a growing share of the UK’s workforce, it is vitally important for practice owners and managers to better handle the challenges that both pregnancy and new parenthood can pose to patient care. That being said, employers must proceed with caution if one or more of their dental nurses become pregnant, keeping discrimination laws in mind when making decisions.
