Just to recap after our last conversation, what first got you into volunteering?
The first big volunteering role for me was with Crisis for Christmas, which I found through Facebook. They give you an introductory session and show you where all the volunteers should go and how everything works before you get started. There are so many different types of volunteers as well as dental nurses, so many other members of the dental team were there as well as medical nurses all wanting to contribute and help. It was great! That felt like my first serious dip into the waters of volunteering. It was there I met a volunteer from Dentaid, who told me all about the international volunteering she was doing as well as all the domestic volunteering in the UK. It was so inspiring. That led me to go on to my first session with Dentaid at the Napier barracks, where we provided dental care for asylum seekers and refugees, which was absolutely incredible.
