Learning without boundaries: a world of webinars

When lockdown was announced, many dental nurses saw their training and learning immediately grind to a halt. Like many organisations within dentistry, tutors at the Dental Nursing Academy looked for alternative ways to connect and, for the first time ever, launched a series of webinars to support students with their learning during these trying times. Preetee Hylton is one of the tutors, as well as an examiner for the NEBDN.

She explains: ‘I hosted the first one, introducing the CACHE Level 3 Diploma: The Principles and Practices pf Dental Nursing. I explained what it took to be a successful dental nurse and provided assistance with CV writing and drafting a PDP and so on. My colleague, Laura Lane, who is one of our assessors, also hosted her first webinar to support our learners with their written assignments and she was available to answer questions regarding the structure of the online portfolio.’
