Your professional portfolio speaks volumes about you in a professional capacity, so will you be the one who does the bare minimum to meet this General Dental Council (GDC) requirement or will you go that extra mile and bring your portfolio to life?

The professional portfolio is to become a mandatory requirement of registration, with theintroduction of Enhanced Continual Professional Development (ECPD) in August 2018¹. As GDC registrants, dental nurses must assume accountability and responsibility for their professional practice and actions and as part and parcel of this. The professional portfolio is a preferred tool to demonstrate how you are able to meet the standards for continual registration with the GDC. The GDC has made clear what it expects from your professional portfolio, yet there is still a sense of some confusion and uncertainty around how one should look and how it should be developed and presented.
