Having a new trainee can sometimes be tricky, especially in the first three months. I have trained a few trainees over the years and have found it can be quite a big task, especially the first time you do it. Practices are busy so we want quick learners who are going to pick up everything we tell them – and fast. But it can be quite daunting. As a dental nurse mentor you have all the knowledge in your head but may not necessarily know how to deliver it in a logical way. You also have other jobs and responsibilities – and this gets harder with a trainee on your tail.
