A dental practice may look spotless to the naked eye, but if your hygiene and contamination processes aren’t up to scratch, the reality could be very different.
Waterlines, even in newly installed equipment, can be the source of hidden dangers. Bacteria and other micro-organisms form a biofilm, which sticks to the inside of the tubing through which the water flows. And, as the liquid is pumped through the line contamination is inevitable.
It doesn’t matter if water lines are new or old, if they are not being cleaned regularly, they will not meet the very strict limit of 100 colony forming units (CFUs) laid down for drinking water.
