The challenge for anyone in dentistry is to step away and try to control the ‘controllables’. My team were amazing about bringing a solution to a problem. The secret to stress management is often to let someone else take responsibility. It might not be my solution but it allows others to make decisions. I often felt that I did not spend enough time with my clinicians. Demonstrating that the dentists are part of the team is critical. Linking the team with each other’s view’s was a challenge. Conflict resolution was never my strong point, so often this would be focused with the managers, who were especially good at this. I would only be brought in when dealing with clinicians. Sometimes, we would move staff around practices to just to give a reset.
