Immunisations for the dental nurse

In this article, Shilla Talati discusses what immunisations are necessary for dental nurses or staff at the dental practice who will come into contact with blood or other bodily fluids

As the era of cross-contamination and exposure to high levels of dangerous viruses and bacteria affects our daily routines, it is a necessity for all health care workers to ensure they take precautions against becoming infected from patients, and indeed protecting their patients from any diseases they may have themselves. This has become a legal obligation across many regulations held by various regulatory bodies (Care Quality Commission (CQC), 2015); General Dental Council (GDC), 2013; Public Health England (PHE), 2013). Therefore, we must all ensure we adhere to strict protocols to the best of our abilities in order to prevent cross-contamination of any sort.
