A look at how Steph Philp and Jo Lopes used collaborative and creative thinking to enhance the dental experience – especially for their younger patients

Dental nurse Steph Philp has been a dental nurse for 34 years. Dentist Jo Lopes qualified in Portugal in 2008 and, since 2009, has been living and working in Norfolk. Jo is the owner of NR2 Dental Studio, Norwich, and Steph is its manager and dental nurse. Steph says: ‘We met in 2018 and instantly hit it off and have worked together since then.’

Here, Steph shares the story behind a practice that aims to change the way patients view their dental experience.

‘I hate the dentist’

The answers ranged from the smell to the uniform to the setting being too clinical.
