How to create a portfolio

John Fowler explores some of issues involved in developing an account of your dental nursing experiences to date

How many dental nurses keep a portfolio of their dental nursing experiences? I suspect it’s the minority. If you are a very organised person, with plenty of spare time, then you will undoubtedly have a folder that chronicles your various dental nursing jobs, the sort of work you did in each practice and a copy of your job descriptions for each of those positions.

However, if you are more like me – and I was a general nurse and mental health lecturer for 30 years – then your portfolio might be a little less organised! I’m fortunate to have the luxury of an office at home and, in that office, there are four bookcases, one cupboard, two filing cabinets a desk and a number of boxes under the desk.
