How to be an effective dental implant nurse

From 2001, Isis Buffonge she worked in an NHS practice and in a private practice with a focus on specialist dentistry, including oral surgery, implantology and endodontics. In 2001, she returned to studying and completed her Certificate in Dental Nursing. She began A-level Biology with the idea of becoming a dental hygienist but had recurring difficulties with studying. In 2008, Isis was employed at UCL Eastman Dental Institute CPD.

She is now involved in the high-quality teaching environment of the Eastman and is able to observe teaching by specialists in implantology, restorative dentistry, aesthetics and endodontics. Developing an interest in teaching, she completed her Certificate in Oral Health Education, using her new qualification to teach community-based oral health care. During this period of study, Isis discovered she had dyslexia and adapted her study habits to accommodate this challenge. In 2014, Isis assumed responsibility for teaching the dental nurse aspects of the Restorative Dental Practice MSc and the Implant Dentistry Diploma. When it became clear that there was an interest in further training for dental nurses in implantology, Isis prepared and began to run a one-day Dental Implant Nursing courses for the Eastman. These have proven to be some of the most popular and sought after courses. Last month, Isis presented at the Dentistry Show in the Dental Nurse Forum.
