With 8,300 new cases diagnosed this year – an increase of 49% over the last decade – dental professionals have a significant impact on these disturbing figures. Both professional and public awareness is more important than ever before and the organisers of Mouth Cancer Action Month are keen for dental nurses to get involved. Since dental nurses are at the forefront of patient care, the Oral Health Foundation would like to work with you this November to engage and educate members of the public. By promoting healthier lifestyles, and drawing greater attention to the risk factors and signs and symptoms of mouth cancer, dental teams can help to reduce the incidence of the disease. This, in turn, also helps to improve the general health and wellbeing of millions of people across the UK.
