Give your autoclave the care it deserves

I’ve been an engineer for almost twenty years, and as part of the NSK engineering team, I’m here to help practices with any equipment issues, including autoclaves. Practices are busy and autoclaves are essential equipment, so it’s vital they stay fully operational.

To maintain an autoclave certain actions need to be done in-house but there are other areas in which an engineer is required. Here are some essential tips to help dental nurses and practice staff understand how to do this, and where to get help.

Tip #1: Know the difference between daily and weekly tests

Different tests need to be carried out to ensure the autoclave is in good working order, otherwise, there’s a risk of breakdown, which would impact patient care or worse still, equipment not being properly sterilised before use.
