From dancer to dental nurse

3 mins read People profiles
Trainee dental nurse Rav Rai, 26, speaks to Eloise Meldrum about stepping into a new career

Before I became a dental nurse, I was studying – and then graduated with – a dance degree from Plymouth University. Sadly, dance wasn’t as rewarding as I had hoped and I became too materialistic. I realised it was more of hobby and required me to spend many hours just to build a portfolio. My passion didn’t run that deep.

I was working in a restaurant after graduating and, although it wasn’t a bad job, this wasn’t challenging enough. I had wanted to go into dental nursing for a while, as I needed something more rewarding. I love working with people and being hands on and the best part of being a dental nurse is that it is never the same every day. Additionally, you have the opportunity to learn new skills.
