CRB: How did you first get into dentistry?
BP: I started working in dentistry at the age of 16, and have to admit I rather fell into it. I always knew I wanted to do something in healthcare, and took a placement at our local hospital in medicine and dentistry to see what I would prefer. It became clear at that point that dentistry was the way forward for me.
CRB: What were your career goals when you first started?
BP: I’m not even sure I had any set goals at that age… But I knew I was keen to get working in a role that would help people. Success was definitely something I aimed for – even if I wasn’t sure what form that success might take – I certainly didn’t expect to love CQC and compliance like I do! After qualifying as a dental nurse, I gradually got promoted and took on more responsibilities, then began training new colleagues and slowly transitioning to the managerial role I am in now!
