
Many dental nurses are finding it challenging to manage their dental career and childcare due to a lack of flexibility when it comes to working hours. This is causing lots of dental nurses to feel stressed and burnt out whilst trying to survive the juggle of everyday life. Is this a problem we can address in the dental industry as a whole, or is dental nursing naturally an inflexible career option?
Currently, any staff member can make a request for flexible working as long as they have been employed for 26 weeks. Employers are obligated to respond and arrange a meeting with the employee, but due to the nature of the job, these requests are not always easily accommodated.
