Rebecca Fitzsimons reflects on her dental nursing career.

I started studying dental nursing at the Dental Hospital in Trinity College Dublin in 2018. Towards the end of my first year, I began working part-time in a private dental practice in my local town. I gained a great deal of experience working in all areas of dentistry over the summer, which I could bring into my final year of college. In 2020, I was awarded the IDNA award for Best Clinical Performance and I feel like this was due to all the exposure I got in a private practice. Once I had completed my studies and graduated amid the pandemic, I began working full-time in the practice once ‘lockdown’, (the dreaded word), was finally lifted.
