The number of dental nurses reportedly leaving the profession has risen during the pandemic. Of those who remain in dentistry, many are reportedly feeling undervalued and underpaid. With compulsory Covid-19 jabs for dental teams in England looming – from April, dentists and their teams will have to be fully jabbed to continue working – there are concerns within the profession of a worsening workforce shortage.

According to a British Dental Association (BDA) survey, more than 30 per cent of high street dentists believed dental nurses at their practices will leave as a result of the vaccine mandate. This, by the way, covers all CQC-registered health professionals, so includes dentists and their teams across both NHS and private settings.
