Empower them to fly

5 mins read Leadership/team working
In the fourth part of this series on professional relationships, John Fowler explores the importance of positive working relationships with junior team members

Take a few moments to think about the dental team within which you work.

What proportion are junior dental nurses? And, to what extent are these junior and less experienced team members in direct contact with – and caring for – the patients who attend your dental practice?

It is interesting to ask these simple questions to health care teams all working in different disciplines of health care.

Indeed, the answers you get from hospital staff in an intensive care unit, for example, will be quite different to the ones you get from health care workers at a care home or a podiatrists or the staff in any number of dental practices.
