Drink and drug consumption is an ongoing concern in the UK. Turn on the TV or pick up a newspaper and you’re sure to come across a story about binge drinking, the rise of Spice (the new drug on the block) or yet another teenage ecstasy death. Remember the highly publicised case of London’s Fabric nightclub and how it had its licensed revoked (for a while at least) because of a ‘culture of drugs’?1 Well, that’s the epitome of the sort of news story that plagues the media – hence the growing concern from professional bodies. But what if it’s not as bad as what we all think?
