A unique dental decontamination course has been hailed as a major success and it forms part of the prize on offer for our amazing Aura IPC Awards

The course, run by County Durham-based Aura Infection Control, was launched 12 months ago with a pledge to help take infection compliance to a new level.

Since then Aura’s specialists have helped teach students across the UK the best industry-standard methods of cross-infection control.

The course was the idea of Aura’s managing director Laura Edgar and Education for Dental who saw a need for a bespoke leadership and management training course specifically designed with dental decontamination leads in mind.

Laura explained: ‘All NHS organisations have a legal obligation to manage, mitigate and control the risk of infection – including dental practitioners.

‘Although dental practices now have registered dental care professionals – whose job it is to work to the new regulatory framework and within the purview of the Care Quality Commission – we felt there was a need to create an industry-standard training course to help them discharge their obligations.
